COMMITTEE ON BUDGET, APPROPRIATIONS AND FINANCE BILL NO. 35-0118 Thirty-Fifth Legislature of the Virgin Islands August 22, 2023 An Act amending title 33 Virgin Islands Code, chapter 3, section 54(b)(3)(D)(iii) allocating $2,500,000 of the Timeshare Environmental/Infrastructure Impact Fee to the Virgin Islands Waste Management Authority for beautification and cleanup of the Territory PROPOSED BY: Senator Dwayne M. DeGraff Be it enacted by the Legislature of the Virgin Islands: 1 SECTION 1. Title 33 Virgin Islands Code, chapter 3, section 54, subsection (b), 2 paragraph (3), subparagraph (D), clause (iii) is amended by adding the following at the end of 3 the clause: 4 “Beginning in fiscal year 2024, and each year thereafter, $2,500,000 of such sum 5 must be allocated to the Virgin Islands Waste Management Authority for beautification 6 and cleanup to include payment of waste haulers, roadside cleanup, and the disposal of 7 tires and motor oil. Of the total sum of funds allocated to the Virgin Islands Waste 8 Management Authority, which is to be available until expended, $500,000 must be used 9 2 for the island of St. John and $1,000,000 each to the islands of St. Croix and St. 1 Thomas.” 2 BILL SUMMARY 3 The bill amends title 33 Virgin Islands Code, chapter 3, section 54(b)(3)(D)(iii) and 4 allocates $2,500,000 of the Environmental/Infrastructure Impact Fee to the Waste 5 Management Authority for beautification and cleanup of the Territory. 6 BR23-0246/January 20, 2023/LMW 7
