BOARD OF TRUSTEES RESOLUTION



RESOLUTION FOR THE NAMING OF THE MARINE SCIENCE FACILITY



WHEREAS a marine science building has been constructed in 1991 for the

purpose of teaching and research in the marine sciences; and



WHEREAS such a facility and its programs have been targeted for

development as a Center for Excellence at the University; and



WHEREAS Dr. William Planett MacLean (deceased), former Vice President

for Academic Affairs and Professor of Biology, made contributions to the

planning and development of the facility that were essential to its

compietion; and



WHEREAS the University desires to commemorate the excellence in

scholarship and leadership in administration by Dr. William MacLean;



NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved that the Board of Trustees of the

University establishes that the marine science facility be named the

William Planett MacLean Marine Science Building.
