Requirements for Approval of Training Courses (e.g., CEC) (803-44) All training courses for Pesticide Applicator certification and recertification must be pre-approved by the VI Department of Planning and Natural Resources (DPNR). • The individual or organization conducting the course must have appropriate credentials to have the course approved. This includes academic credits in topics that the training will cover or at least 3 years of verifiable experience as a certified Commercial Applicator. • An instructor with a previous enforcement record may be ineligible to conduct these courses. • Fifty (50) minutes of instruction is required to each one (1) Continuing Education Credit (CEC) for recertification • Seven CECs covering core and category competency standards are required for recertification Obtaining Approval for Courses • Submit detailed content in fillable application for each course and send to the DPNR for approval. • Submit instructor bios, a detailed course outline, and the number of hours of instruction for each course. • Course Providers must verify each attendee’s identity with a valid government-issued ID and applicator certification card • The DPNR must be provided the name and certification card number of each attendee who successfully completed the course. • Each attendee who successfully completed the course must be given a completion certificate with the name of the course, date of completion, and the instructor’s name. The DPNR will routinely monitor classes to identify any issues.
