UNIVERSITY OF THE VIRGIN ISLANDS

BOARD OF TRUSTEES RESOLUTION



PURPOSE: _ To authorize the closure of the Associate of Arts Degree Program in Agriculture.



Upon motion duly made and seconded, the following Resolution was adopted by the members of

the Board of Trustees of the University of the Virgin Islands:



WHEREAS, the University has engaged in a period of program review and assessment as part of its

program rationalization process; and



WHEREAS, the outcome of this process has been the recommendation that the program leading to

the Associate of Arts degree in Agriculture be closed; and



WHEREAS, it has been determined that there are no students currently enrolled in the program and

that the needs of the community for continuing education in the field of agriculture are met through

the services of the Agricultural Experiment Station and Cooperative Extension Service programs

offered by the University on each of its campuses; and



WHEREAS, the Division of Science and Math, through its Chair, forwarded a report to the Vice

President for Academic Affairs recommending that the program be closed; and



WHEREAS, the Vice President for Academic Affairs presented to the President’s Cabinet a report

recommending the closure of the program and obtained the approval of the Cabinet; and



WHEREAS, the President endorses and recommends to the Board of Trustees that the A. A. Degree

program in Agriculture be closed; be it



RESOLVED, THAT the Board of Trustees approves the closure of the Associate of Arts degree

program in Agriculture effective immediately.

The undersigned does hereby certify that the foregoing is a true and exact copy of the Resolution of

the Board of Trustees of the University of the Virgin Islands adopted at its meeting on February 15,

1997, and recorded in the minutes of said meeting.
