MEMORANDUM FOR: Director of Central Intelligence SUBJECT : Briefing of Vice President Nixon for his trip to Africa 1. I talked to Mr. Robert King of the Vice President's office today about the trip to Africa. He indicated that the Vice President will leave on or about Friday, March lst, and will plan to visit the Gold Coast (where the inauguration is March 6th), Liberia and possibly Ethiopia. He will be accompanied on his trip by Congressman Charles C. Diggs, Jr., Democrat of Detroit; Congressvoman Frances P. Bolton, Republican of Ohio; Walter A. Gordon, Governor of the Virgin Islands; and EB. Frederic Morrow, Administrative Officer (Special Projects) of the White House. Mr. King will arrange for a time for the briefing of the Vice President some time within the next two weeks and advise. yyman B.
