FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE GOVERNOR MAPP SIGNS CONTRACTS FOR PROJECTS ON ST. THOMAS, ST. JOHN AND ST. CROIX (St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands, September 2, 2015) Governor Kenneth E. Mapp signed several contracts today for the Department of Public Works, which will vastly improve road conditions for Virgin Islanders on St. Croix, St. Thomas, and St. John. On the Island of St. Croix the Governor has signed a contract with V.I. Paving. This contract is for the necessary road work on Emancipation Drive from Hannah’s Rest Signal Light to Claude O. Markoe Elementary School. V.I. Paving is expected to commence work on this project immediately. On the Island of St. John emergency roadway repairs will take place on Route 10, Centerline Road. The damage to this road was a result of Tropical Storm Otto and has affected travel on the Island of St. John since the damage occurred. Island Roads will commence work on this project immediately. On the Island of St. Thomas, Governor Mapp signed a contract with Island Roads for the finalization of the Rothschild Francis “Market Square” Rehabilitation Project. The Community has been waiting for the completion of this project and work is scheduled to begin immediately. “These projects continue to serve as an example of my administration’s commitment to the people of the Virgin Islands, to rebuild our roads and improve our infrastructure” stated the Governor upon signing of the contracts. # # #
