urge
upon
all
the people of the
Virgin Islands,
on that
day,
to congregate
in their usual
piaces
of worship and
there
to
give d=ep
an
sincere
thanks,
to the
Great
Giver of All
Good,
for
the
manifold
blessings,
both
spiritual
and material,
which have
been
showered
upon these
islands.
The
cataclysms
of
the
great
world
war
passed
us by and
the
after
effecis
have
visited
us in triflinz degre=
as
com-
pared with our brothers in other countries.
We
are
spared
the
great
inclenicncios
of
weather
that biing
such safferinz
to
the
poor in colder
climes
and destructive
storms
have
not
swept
over
our
dwell-
ings.
The
very
gret problem
of
un-
employment
which
at
home
faces
some
tour
million of our countrymen,
is
to
us
reatly softened and starvation
is unknown
In our midst.
We have basked
under
the
most
beneficent
worldly government
that
the earth
has
ever known,
while
a great
European
country
has
suffered
untold
crueity
and
desolation
under
the
tyrant
rule
of bolshevists.
Wars
are still
rag-
ing
in
places
on
earth
but
we
reside
amidst
peace
and
the
transcendent
beauties
of Nature.
Epidemies
have
not
come
upon
us but health
econditions
con-
tinue
to improve in our commuities.
We
may
all
go
about
our
r:spective
tasks
freely
and fearlessly,
knowing
that
no
;an
may
unjustly
detain
us.
Our_local
proble
ns
are
not
so
serious
as those
of
the
world at large
and
all are capable
of
solution
if we
banish
greed and
consider
themn
unselfishly.
We have
indeed
been
plessed
above
manv 'of
our
fellows and
our gratitude
should
be
heartfelt.
Spiritually
the feelin of brotherly love
reigns
over
us in an unusual
degree,
and
this greatest
of soul qualities will, gradu-
ally and
in the ages
to come,
prove
to
e
the only possible
solution
of
the
present
world
troubles.”
Our
hearts
are

disposed
toward
the
others
of
ou:

munity and
we have
the
copstant
inner
urge
to serve
those
less
fortunate
than
ourselves.

patriotic

hearts
are religiously inclined to act
upon

ciple rather

of race

station

spirit
of amity
actuates
us.

influence

God has
called
us
to serve
