Open to all UVI students, faculty, staff, and alumni. For more information, please contact Bruce Wray at 692-4139. z Friday, March 9 at 6 a.m. -- The 6th Annual Queen Mary Highway 5K Walk/Run will begin at Kmart in the Sunshine Mall and will end on the St. Croix campus. Limited registration will be conducted from 5:30 a.m. on race day. The event culminates in a medal-awarding ceremony and breakfast on the St. Croix campus. In recognition of the University of the Virgin Islands' 45th anniversary of its Charter Day, UVI will host a number of activities during the month of March 2007. The official Charter Day Ceremony will begin at 9 a.m. on March 16 in Chase Auditorium, room B110, and will be videoconferenced to the Theater of the Evans Center, room EC401, on the St. Croix campus. Charter Day is an annual celebration that commemorates the signing of legislation establishing the College and later the University of the Virgin Islands 45 years ago. The theme for this month's Charter activities is, "Celebrating the Past, Looking to the Future." The activities, scheduled on both campuses, include a walk/run, several performances, the Miss UVI Ambassadorial Pageant and The Caribbean Writer's 20th anniversary celebration. Both campus libraries will also feature a Charter Day library display. Most of the activities will be videoconferenced between the St. Thomas and St. Croix campuses. Today, the 34-year-old has emerged as the force keeping the tap dance genre alive. His 1996 Broadway show "Bring in Da Noise, Bring in Da Funk" earned Glover a Tony Award for best choreography. He will perform at the Reichhold Center for the Arts on St. Thomas. The seminar will be videoconferenced to Evans Center room 302A on the St. Croix campus. Benoit, who works with Yale's School of Forestry and Environmental Studies, will speak on land development issues as they relate to non-point source water pollution, soil erosion, and habitat fragmentation and destruction. His presentation is titled: "Green Sprawl: Can land be developed sustainably?" z Wednesday, March 14 at 6 p.m. -- A Women in Business Forum is scheduled at the Small Business Development Center Training Facility at Nisky Center on St. Thomas.
