week
a street
brawl
is reported

having
cccured
on
the wharf between
some
sailors
from one
of
the
visiting
mine-sweepers
and
a
voung fellow aamed
Jerome
Ribbon the
cause
of
the
irouble arising
out
of
the
loss
of
$5
by
one of
the seamen
which
Jerome
was
accused
of
having
stolen,
the money
being
however
found where

been
accidentally
dropped.
'The
sailor is alleged to
have pursued
this boy
kicking him and
eventually
he
drew his
knife and
s'ashed
behind
him one
of the
sailors
receiving
a
wound
in
the
leg.
‘The matter
formed
the subject
of a
case
in
the
police
court
yesterday
where
Jerome
Ribbon
was sentenced
to 40 days
hard labor, being released
on bail of SIOO
pending
appeal.
The
judge
is cited
as
stating
that
there
is a
lie somewhere
in
the
testimony,
nevertheless
since
sen-
tence
was passed
the
court
must
have
had
the rfacts.

police were
not
on
the
scene
of the fray, but
the

police
were

is
