arrived
at
Frederiksted
at day-
break
yesterday.
The Parima
sailed for
the States
after taking mails
and
passen-
gers,
and the
Pulwico
is expected
to
un-
load today and
to
call at this port
tomor-
row.
The Mystery reached
Frederiksted
yestercay
afternoon
bringing
mail only
from
Porto
Rico and
St.
Thomas
the
States
mail
having
been
despatched
by
the Pulwico.
The
Native
Brass
Band
delivered
a
public concert
on
the
wharf
last night.

and
it received
apprecia-
tive
editorial notice.
Mr. Harvey made
retference
to
the reduction
of
naval
ccn-
struction
by
the
United
States,
and
this
was
considered
a matter
of deep signifi-
cance by commentators.
‘‘This eloquent
fact’’, declared
the ‘‘Times’’, in
discus-
sing Mr.
Harvey’s
statement
relarive
to
the cuttiug
down of the
building of war
ships’’,
is
proof
of
sincerity,
which
should
be
recognized
and
an
example
which
shege
imitated,
where
and
when it is possiple.
The ‘*MorningPost’’
called
it a “‘valuable guarantee
of Amer-
ica’s
goodwill’”’, while
the
'‘Chronicic
said the
whole speech
was
an admirable
expression
of the spirit

the approaching

ference

Washington.

endorsed

marks,
said
that
the
deiegates
were
go-
ing

the interests

countries,

the

the crushing
burdens
