Woman Reports She Was Injured Due to Assault By Her Brother 
St. Thomas, USVI – On Tuesday, March 28, 2023, at about 6:00 p.m., Mr. Ivan Evans a 61-
year-old male, was placed under arrest after he struck his sister several times with the side of 
a cutlass blade. The victim sustained three broken bones in her hand and abrasions on her 
right thigh. The victim stated that she was struck by Mr. Evans for no apparent reason. The 
victim further stated that she called 911 to report the assault and when officers traveled to 
make contact with Mr. Evans, he locked himself inside of his house. 
Mr. Evans turned himself into the Domestic Violence Unit after admitting to assaulting his 
sister with the cutlass. He was charged with Assault in the Third Degree (DV) and 
Disturbance of the Peace (DV), with no bail. Mr. Evans was turned over to the Bureau of 
Corrections pending his Advise of Rights Hearing. 
This case is presently under investigation by the Domestic Violence Bureau/CIB. Anyone
