An Act ratifying the approval by the Governor of the Virgin Islands of Major Coastal Zone Permit
No. CZT-7-l 8(W) issued to the Virgin Islands Port Authority and the West Indian Company, Ltd.

WHEREAS, the St. Thomas Committee of the Virgin Islands Coastal Zone Commission
issued Major Coastal Zone Pennit No. CZT-7-l8(W) to the Virgin Islands Port Authority and the
West Indian Company, Ltd. on April 30, 2019, and the Governor of the Virgin Islands approved
the Permit on June 1, 2019;
WHEREAS. Major Coastal Zone Permit No. CZT-7-l 8(W) permits the dredging of
approximately 255,118 yds3 of material from the existing berth of the West Indian Company, Ltd.
bulkhead, the turning basin, and the entrance channel into the Charlotte Amalie Harbor, bringing
the controlling dept of the berth to 36 feet below Mean Lowest Low Water (MLLW), the dept of
the entrance to the channel to 40 feet below MLLW, and the dept of the turning basin to 38 feet
below MLLW;
WHEREAS, title 12, chapter 21, section 911(e) of the Virgin Islands Code provides that
the Governor’s approval must be ratified by the Legislature of the Virgin Islands; and
WHEREAS, the Legislature has determined that the grant of Major Coastal Zone Permit
No. CZT-7-18(W) will serve the public interest; Now, Therefore,
Be it enacted by the Legislature ofthe J’irgin Islands:
SECTION 1. Pursuant to title 12, chapter 21, section 911(e) of the Virgin Islands Code,
the Legislature of the Virgin Islands ratifies the approval by the Governor of the Virgin Islands of
Major Coastal Zone Permit No. CZT-7-18(W) issued to the Virgin Islands Port Authority and the
West Indian Company, Ltd.
