PUBLIC HEALTH SURVEY
Leptospirosis is a bacterial disease that was fi rst identifi ed 
in the Virgin Islands after Hurricanes Irma & Maria. 
It can cause a wide range of symptoms – without 
treatment, it can lead to serious illness and even death.
The Department of Health and CDC 
will conduct leptospirosis community surveys from
March 4 to March 31:
St. Croix: March 4-17
St. John: March 18-24
St. Thomas: March 18-31
HELP KEEP YOUR FAMILY AND NEIGHBORS SAFE AND HEALTHY
If a survey team visits your house, please consider participating.
Results will help us learn how common
 leptospirosis is in USVI so we can give 
better advice to prevent it.
