passed
a resolution
demanding
the grant-
ing of ‘the
vote
to
women.
The
reso-
lution
was adopted unanimously,

Beatty

the Roya! Bankof
Canada
will represent
the banks
interested
in
the Cuban
sugar
gituation
on
a
special
commission
of
seven
men,
which
was
appointed
by
Presidential
decree,
to
have charge
~f
all
the
operations,
ielative
to
the
sale
and shipment
of the
1920-21
erop of Cu-
ban
sugar.
The
organizatfen
is
to
be
known
as
the
Sugar
Fijance
Commis-
sion
The
mwembers
represent
the pro-
ducers
of the
island
while
the
organza-
tion also includes
a member
of
the
Cabhi-
net
as representative
of the Cuban
pub-
iic interest.
The
decree
appointing
the
commission,
which
was
published
in the
official Gazette
)esterday,
directs
sugar
buyers
or sellers
to file before February
20th
sworn
statements
covering all sales
contracts
made
with firms
foreign coun-
tries.
All
details
of
these
contracts
must
be gziven and in addition
the agree-
ment
stipulate
that
the
produet
they
cover
is
to
be
refined
or
used
byethe
buyer and
not
sold
or
offered
for
sale
as crude
sugar.
Infractions
of the rules
laid down
will result
in
the commission
refusing
to
issue
permits
for
further
shipments
byoffending individuals.
It
is explained that
the
object of
appoint-
ing
this commission
is to save
the sfigar
industry of the island.
A leading

producer
stated

that
the
Cuban
Govt. is seeking
not only to defend its own
industry
but

defend
the
consumer
