service

taken
off, will be
return-
ed
to Santo Domingo.

her days of usefulness

waters.

The
Catherine
sailed
from
New
York Tuesday
for Santo
Domingo
with
passengers
and cargo and
will arrive
in
San Juan
the latter part
of
this
month.
The first sailing from Santo
Domingo
is
scheduled
for October Ist.
The Catherine
is
a
new
steamer
built
about four years
ago and it
has
been
in
the freight service
between
Porto
Rico
and New York
since
that
time.
When
it was found undesirable
to continue
the
Marina in the
inter-islands
serviee,
the
company
looked cut for another
ship
and
finally concluded,
it was
more
advisable
to remodel
the Catherine
than
it
was
to
purchase
another
vessel
which,
like
the
Marina, might prove
to
be
ursatisfacto-
ry for the service.
More
than
$125,000
have
heen
spent
on the Catherine
to fix her
with
cabins,
dining room,
and other facilities for
pas-
sgngers.
As altered
there
are
accomo-
ations for 60 first class
passengers
and
-) steerage
passengers.
