An Act amending title 3 Virgin Islands Code section 715(a) by changing the composition of 
the GERS Board of Trustees so that active government employees can elect representatives to

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the Virgin Islands:

SECTION 1.  Title 3 Virgin Islands Code, section 715 is amended as follows:

(a) 
In subsection (a) by striking the fourth and fifth sentences and inserting the 
3 
following: “Two active members of the Government Employees Retirement System must be 
4 
elected through a process to be determined by the System.  One member must be a resident of 
5 
the district of St. Croix and the other member must be a resident of the district of St. Thomas-
6 
St. John.”

(b) 
in subsection (a), paragraph (2) by striking “two members from the Central Labor 
8 
Council and the”.

BILL SUMMARY

This bill changes the composition of the GERS Board of Trustees to allow active 
11 
members of the GERS to be elected as representatives on the Board.
