Notice.
1.
The
Public
is
hereby
notified that-
in eve
t of
an
impending
hurricane the
followving signals
will be given at Chris-
tiansted,
Frederiksted,
King’s
Hill and
Richmond Penitentiary:—
Two
sky
rockets
will
be
fired at an
interval
of five minutes
and
the hurri-
cane
flag (red
with black
centre) will
be
displayed.
2.
These
rockets
when
fired
rise
to
a height
of approximately
two
hundred
feet and
when
at
their
greatest
height
explode with
a loud
noise
similar to that
produced
by a small
cannon.
3.
These
signals
will be
given
only
when it is reasonably
certain
that
this
island will experience
a very strong wind
and all
persons
should
immediately
pre-
pare
for
a
hurricane,
when
two
roc-
kets
are
heard
or seen.
4.
News of a passing
hurricane
which
is
not
expected
to
strike
this
island
will spread
only by telephone
as the
roc-
kets signals
are
limited.
5.
The firing of
one
rocket
or
three
or
more
rockets
should
be
disregarded
by the public as
those
signals
are
only
for the
use of the Police Department.
6.
In addition to the above signals
the
towns
of Christiansted
and Frederiksted
will be further
rotified of an impending
hurricane
by
a policeman
or marine
go-
ing
through
the
streets
beating
a drum
or sounding
a bugle.

FROSS,
one
of the oldest
respectable
members
of this
commnity diel here yesterday
morning
at the age of 82 years.
The funeral has
been fixed for 9.30 this morning and
will
proceed from the residence

Church
where a requiem
high
mass
will
be celebrated.

She
landed

Thomas and Porto
Rico
mail
by
the
Mystery
on Saturday
it is advised.

Last
evening
Mr.
S.
Malling-Holm
the
. popular
cashier
of
the National
Bank,
and
Mrs.
Malling-Holm,
enter-
tained His Royal Highness
Prince
Axel,
of Denmark,
and
a
number of friends
at
a
garden
party
at his
beautiful coun-
try
seat,
Havensight.
The
grounds of
Havensight
in
which
covers
were
laid
for about sixty
guests
were
beautifully
decorated with
e¢olored
lights
and other
odds and ends
known
to the decorative
artist,

Among the
many
present
were
Mrs.
Kittelle' and
many
prominent
-citizens
and
officers
of the
station
and
their
wives.
During and
after
supper
music
was
furnished
by
the
Naval
Band
to
the
intense
satisfaction
of the
guests,
who
as
may be imagined,
did not for-
get
the
lore of dancing
in which they
indulged until 1 a. m.—lbid.
