the
local Red
Cross Chapter
will begin Monday
Janu-
ary
23rd,
and extend
chrough
February
6th.
These
two weeks
are
set
aside
so
that former
members
may
renew
their
memberstip
and nev members
may join.
Last
vear the Santa
Cruz Chapter
totall-
ed over
two thousand
members
and this
vear’s
enroliment
should
equal,
if
not
exceed
that number.
The
two
towns
of Frederiksted
and
Christiansted
have
been districted
and
a
house
to
house
canvass
will'be
made
to
facilitate
the enrollment.
The
dues fcr
membership
have
not
changed,
but
the
amount
to
be retained
for
chapter
work
has heen increased.

and their
division.

The
amount
retained

local chapter
is
divided between
the
Chapter headquart-
ers
at F.re(geriksted
and
the
Branch
at
Christiansted
according
to
the member-
ships
in each
district.
During
the
past
year
Home
Service
Committees
have
been
formed
in Freder-
iksted
and
Christiansted.
These
com-
mittees
have
rendered
many
kinds
of
service
to
families in need
of advice
and
help.
Relatives,
who
have
not
been
heard
tfrom
after leaving
the Isl nds for
the
States:
or
other
parts,
have
been
traced,
support
has
beer
secured
for
children
and
aged
parents;
practically
every
kind of family problem has
been
presented
for help and adjustment.
In
Christiansted
a Sewing
Committee
has
met weekly
After making supplies
for
the
local
hospital,
attention
was
turned
to
the
equipment
of
a
Loan
Closet,
which
is
furnished
with
bed
linen
and
bed-gowns
to be
lent
out
to
sick people
who
are
not
hospital
cases,
but are
confined
to
bed and
in
need -of
comfortable
bed coverings.

is returned
after
the recovery

the Christiansted
Branch
purchased
a
Ford
car,
which
was
pre-
sented
to
the
Medical
Department
for
the
use
of the
mumicipal
visiting
nurse.
This
makes
it possible
for
the
nurse
to
meet
people
on the
various
estates
three
times
a week,
giving
advice
and
treat-
ment.
Those
who
need
her
attention
need
not
lose
so much
time
from
their
work
as would
be necessary,
if they were
obliged to 2o
into town
to
the
hospital.
On Thursday evening at the local
thea-
tre at the regular
movie show,
Mr. Frank
Coulter,
newly
elected
member
of
the
Executive Committee
of the
Red
Cross,
