a) oO? AWARDING OF HONORARY DEGREES (Board of Trustees Meeting, July 11, 1971) 4% The Board was asked...to establish College policy with regard to the awarding of honorary degrees. The President out— lined the problem in terms of the desirability of reaching a policy decision before the question was raised in terms of individual cases. He also indicated that he believed the College was now in the position to consider awarding honorary degrees if the Board of Trustees felt that this would be appropriate. The Board of Trustees considered this matter in some detail. It was the consensus of the Board that the College should not presently award honorary degrees, but that the matter could be reopened for discussion at a later date. For the present, it was the opinion of the Board that the College should consider instead the awarding of a medallion in recognition of service to the College or the community.
