Protected under federal & local laws:

it is illegal to handle, harm or kill



NOT venomous - like all the snakes in the USVI!



Find most often on the east half of St. Thomas

and offshore cays in dry habitats



Mostly nocturnal, hunt for small lizards at night



¢ Blends in with the ground: brown and tan blotchy

pattern (Adult) or light grey and black (Juvenile)
