Vialet Sponsor: Clifford A. Joseph, Sr. Be it enacted by the Legislature of the Virgin Islands: 1 SECTION 1. (a) Notwithstanding the use restrictions in 33 V.I.C. §3093, the sum of 2 $383,784 is appropriated in the fiscal year ending September 30, 2026, from the Virgin Islands 3 Education Initiative Fund to the Virgin Islands Department of Education to conduct evaluations 4 to determine students’ eligibility for extended school year special education services. The funds 5 shall be allocated as follows: 6 (1) $196,238 to the district of St. Croix; and 7 (2) $187,546 to the district of St. Thomas/St. John. 8 (b) The sums appropriated in subsection (a) remain available until expended. 9 BILL SUMMARY 10 This bill appropriates $383,784 from the Virgin Islands Education Initiative Fund to the 11 Virgin Islands Department of Education to conduct evaluations to determine students’ eligibility 12 for extended school year special education services. 13 BR26-1149/May 28, 2026/PFA 14
