AMENDMENT TO MEMORANDUM OF AGREEMENT

And the

UNIVERSITY OF THE VIRGIN ISLANDS



THIS AGREEMENT is made this 2\* day of eas Urry , 2014, by and between

the GOVERNMENT OF THE VIRGIN ISLANDS, VIRGIN ISLANDS DEPARTMENT OF

EDUCATION, 1834 Kongens Gade, St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands 00802-6746 (hereinafter referred to

as the “Department”, or “VIDE”) and the UNIVERSITY OF THE VIRGIN ISLANDS, No. 2 John

Brewer’s Bay, St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands 00802, an instrumentality of the Government of the

United States Virgin Islands, (hereinafter referred to as “the University” or “UVI”). The Department and

the University are collectively referred to as the “Parties”).



WITNESSETH:



WHEREAS, Virgin Department of Education,, pursuant to Title 3 Virgin Islands Code, Chapter

7, Section 96, is required to promote the cause of education, and achieve a high level of general education

throughout the Virgin Islands, and is authorized to exercise such powers, and perform such other duties

and functions, as may be prescribed by law, to fulfill this duty; and



WHEREAS, on the May 1, 2016 the parties entered into Memorandum of Agreement No.

GO05DOET16 (“Agreement”) to increase the number of highly qualified and certified, mathematics

teachers by providing core education graduate courses that will contribute toward a Master of Arts degree

in Mathematics for Secondary Teachers in the Virgin Islands Public School System as required by the

Virgin Islands Board of Education and the Territories and Freely Associated States Education Grant; and



WHEREAS, the expiration date of the Agreement is August 31, 2017; and



WHEREAS, the Parties wish to amend the agreement to remove particular undergraduate courses

offered and increase the number of graduate courses; and



WHEREAS, the services will require a decreased compensation of Three Thousand, Three

Hundred Sixty Nine Dollars and Sixty Cents ($3,369.60) thus decreasing the total agreement

compensation to an amount not to exceed Seventy Three Thousand, Two Hundred Forty Five Dollars

and Sixty Cents ($73,245.60); and



WHEREAS, the University represents that it is willing and capable of providing such services;

and



NOW, THEREFORE, the parties agree that the Contract is amended as follows:



1. Paragraph 3 (Compensation) of the Agreement is amended to state the following:
