VISITATION POLICY (Board of Trustees Meeting, June 9, 1985) It is a general practice at American colleges and universities to permit visitation of members of the opposite sex in rooms in residence halls only in cases where the residence halls have centrally located points of entry and egress where visitors can be monitored and registered to the satisfaction of the college administrators who are responsible for the general welfare of students who reside on campus. The residence halls of the College of the Virgin Islands do not have such centrally located points of entrance and egress and the College cannot afford the cost required to modify the halls accordingly. For this reason the administration and Board of Trustees of the College agree that it would be unwise and contrary to general practice to change the current policy on visitation to allow members of the opposite sex to visit students in residence halls. Requests for exceptions to this policy should be directed to the Office of Student Affairs.
