tiaa 13 Patrass of the Divis. Notina fa Patrazs of the Dhris- > "0 i ‘_-\ £y ; fiansiad Past Biisn EGINNING Saturday., 29th instant, the mail heretofore carried by the s, s. Romanita from 3an Juan via Saint Thomas to Christiansted wiil be forward- ed by the s.s. Catherine on a :imilar schedule with the exception that the steamer will not call at this port. The miil will be transported by land from I'rederiksted and wiil in ail probability often be received here as late as 500 p. m. for which reason only the first elass matter will be distribared and delivered the same evening. Perishable matter received outside will «lso be delivered if called for before delivery is concluded. As usual it wiil be our aim to givae the best and most complete service and pub- lic ecooperation will do wueh to aid this along the following lines: by seeuring Lo.tage s amps, registratidon and money orders before the mail wirives so that our attention shall not be divided between distribution of mai! and handline of routine work. This of course applies only to when the mail arrives before the closing hour on Saturday, as positively no other business will be attendeld to except the disaribution and delivery of mail If it arrives after the ¢losing hour. Requests {foi service not hpen to the gen eral public will not be granted indivi- duals as a matter of course, and they zre not anticipgted. The delivery of perish- able mail will invariably be made at the back of thee oflice, but patrons are not admitted to the workroom. The Posta] Laws forbid unauthorized persons being in the workrooms of post offices when mail is being opened, and those who make it a practice ol using the back en- trane2 to the office will kindiy understand this. Clearly if one or two or more per- sons may be admitted 'nto the workroom and expedited there for their special convenience the whole public may be admitted which would be manifestly irregular. The demand for service on Sunday morning has reached the point where it hzs become a burden to us and actually impairs efliciency in making up the outzoing mail for which purpose we are on duty on Sunday moraing, and herealter no business whatever which cails for the immediate service of a clerk will be transacted. The mail bax at the entrance to the oTice is cleared latest 9.45 a. m. Saanday, and the drops inside to the moment th2 mail 1s aciually dis- patched from the office. It will, there- fore, not be nee=ssary to inquire whether mail may b 2 deposited in these drops. B. R. LARSEN, Postmaster, AT YOUR SERVICE A. R.
