CROIX Cfticial Publicat. ticialPabiteat.on IT is with much gratification that I inform the people of the Virgin Islands that The Honorable, The Secretary of the Navy, is sending an officer of the Civil Ingineer Corps of high rank, to the Virgin Islonds tor the purpose of Investigating and reporting upon the means of providine a water supply for the towns of St. thomas, Christiansted and Frederiksted. It is expected that this officer will reach the Vir- gin Islands the latter part of the prasent month. The Honorable, The secretary of the Navy, has also informea me that the Department of the Interior has agrecd to send a Reclamation kinginee .o the virgin Islands te in- vestigate and report upon the possi- bility’' of water conservation for agi.cultoral purposes, and that this engineer will probably arrive iit the Virgin Islands the latter parc of February. We have now the assurance that the problem ot water for the Vurgin Islands is about to receive the ex- pert investigation necessary to even- tual soluticn and in view of this, [ earnestly urge that the people adopt an optimistic view as to what the future may hold for us, Government of the Virgin Islands of the United States, St Croix, b January, 1924.
