Lewis, Please accept this letter as my sincere apology for my absence and kindly excuse my inability to appear before you to provide testimony on Bill No. 36-0115, due to unforeseen circumstances beyond my control. On behalf of the U.S. Virgin Islands Police Department, I would like to express our appreciation for the opportunity to participate in the legislative process regarding this important measure. Although I was unable to be present in person, I wish to make clear that the Virgin Islands Police Department has always supported, and will continue to support, the Department of Licensing and Consumer Affairs in enforcement efforts applicable to this bill, just as we have done in the past. The Virgin Islands Police Department recognizes the importance of measures intended to preserve public safety, maintain order, and address businesses that may create nuisances, threaten safety, or disturb the peace within our communities. We remain committed to working collaboratively with our partner agencies to ensure that laws enacted for the protection and well-being of our residents are effectively enforced.
