ANDREWS TO GOVERNMENT HOUSE (St. Thomas, March 11, 2015) This afternoon Governor Kenneth E Mapp was pleased to welcome Admiral Annie B. Andrews to Government House on St. Thomas. Admiral Andrews is the Commander of the Naval Recruiting Command. The Governor also welcomed; Nathan J. King-Commanding Officer, Jimmie A. Holt, Jr.-National Chief Recruiter, and Josaphat A. Satenay-EN1 (SW/AW)E-6, U.S. Navy Recruiter. Admiral Andrews wanted to convey the message to Governor Mapp that the Navy, working together with Department of Education’s Commissioner Designee, Dr. Sharon McCollum want to provide the opportunity for our younger generation to excel. “Education of our people is important. The US Navy is about inclusion and diversity. The Navy has become high tech and we are looking for technically advanced candidates. We are here to visit with a Eudora Kean High School student that has qualified to apply for one of our 200k scholarships” stated Admiral Andrews. The Governor supported the efforts of the Admiral and her recruiting team, encouraging all of them to visit all of our islands and engage more of our young people. The Governor commented, “Education and opportunity is a moral responsibility to our people”. Encouraged by the meeting and the possibilities for educational and opportunity advancement, he invited the guests back to Government house at any time. # # #
