FRAUD ALERT



Scam calls are on the rise! Medicare beneficiaries are receiving

phone calls from scammers claiming to be from Medicare, Social

Security Administration or some other government agency. The

scammers are asking beneficiaries to provide or “verify” their

Medicare number to receive a new Medicare card, update their

information or to get additional benefits from Medicare.



In some cases, beneficiaries are also being asked if they have pain

or if they need a back brace or knee brace sent to them.



Please beware of these phone calls and avoid giving out your

personal information for these offers. Scammers are trying to steal

your Medicare information, so they can use it to bill Medicare for

services or equipment you did not request or do not need.



If you have received a call from someone requesting your personal

information, please give Senior Medicare Patrol (SMP) a call.



Senior Medicare Patrol (SMP) would like you to remember these tips:



«+ Do not give your Medicare number or other personal

information to strangers.



“+ Review your medical statements for potential errors, fraud or

abuse.



« Call SMP at 1-877-784-0228 to learn more or if you have been a

victim of this scam.
