Dear Sir;
Permit
me
to
say
through
your
columus
that there are certain
men
here
who are trying to palm
themselves
off as
the friends of the people
and the friends
of
Mr. Jacksun,
the founder
of
the
St.
Croix Labor
Union, knowing
well-
that
they are
not.
They do have
a temporary
and
transi-
tory connection
with that
institution
of
which connection
they
are
now trying to
take the
latest
and
most
mean
advan
tage.
They are using the
name
and
reputa-
tion of the Founder of the
Labor
Union
as well as
their
dubious
attachment
to
the same
for political effect.
But
they
have
c¢learly
demonstrated
themselves
as traitors to him and
to
the
institution which he has founded.
The two men refered
to in print
as the
Urion’s
legal
officers,
who
kave
put
themselves
forward
as
candidates
for
this election
are not in harmony
with that
institution
nor
are
they
in harmony
at
this
time
with
its
founder.
They
are
taking advantage
of his
absence
to
cut
him out of everything
they
can,
inside
and outside
of the Labor Union
Politics
|
included.
They know that after
his
re-
turn bere they won’t have
a
ghost
of
a
showing before the public far less
before
|
the
members
of the
labor
union
as
an
|
instittition.
Once they get into the (loun-
cil they
are in so it is their
game
to
get
'
in by any means
fair or foul.

Natives

and aliens that he and the founder
have

split because
of his
unconstitutional

unprincipled actions
as President

resigining

But he has
not
resigned
nor
have the
others
resignei
because
it suits
them
to
make
capital
of their
positions
in
the
Union to deceive
and
to impose
upon
the
people,
They
are
playing
polities
and
bluffing the
Labor
Union
Members
un-
til the day when
they will be in a position
to give them
more
direct
insults
than
they
leave
given
them
in
the
past
at
their public and private
meetings.

Chabert

preper
persons

put forward
as
represen-
tatives of the people.
Men,
who have on
several
occasions,
in meetings
held
pub-
licly,been so indiscreet
as te commit them-
selves
to express
their hate
of the
very
people
whom they
are
now putting them-
selves
forward
to
represent
are
obvi-
ously trying to
use
the
voters
as vaulting
horses.
It is a matter
for the
voters
if
they
permit
themselves
to
be
used
in
in this way.
Why does
not Granady
seek admission
to
the
Colonial
Council
of
St.
Thomas,
V.LUB A.
He
it a
native
of
that
worthy
isle.
He
has
lived
there
for
years
and
is
better
qualified for Counecil
membership
there
than
he
is
here
in
St.
Croix.
Why does
not R.
de Chabert
look after
the
business
of the
Labor Union
before
he
goes
to make
a muddle of the people’s
business
in the
Colorial Council?
Will they
all
resign
after the
Gth
of
May?
I know sufficient
to make
both of them
feel
pretty
uncomfortable
but
I
shall
await
their
elevation
to
the
Council
Chamber
to state
the rest.
