I am writing to express my wholehearted support for the nomination of Attorney 
Melanie Turnbull to serve as a Judge on the Superior Court of the United States 
Virgin Islands. I have had the pleasure of knowing Attorney Turnbull since 2015, 
when she worked as an Assistant Public Defender with the Office of the Territorial 
Public Defender, and more recently, as an Assistant Federal Public Defender for 
the past seven years. Additionally, she served as a member of the Territorial 
Public Defender’s Board, where I serve as the chairman. 
 
During our time working together, I have witnessed her demonstrate exceptional 
professionalism, intellect, and dedication to the pursuit of justice. Her extensive 
experience in the field of law, particularly in the areas of Criminal law and federal 
litigation, has equipped her with the skills and knowledge necessary to excel as a 
judge. 
 
Attorney Turnbull is a young Virgin Islander who possesses outstanding qualities 
that make her an ideal candidate for this position. Her impressive work ethic, 
exceptional analytical skills, and ability to think critically are just a few of the 
attributes that set her apart. Moreover, her commitment to upholding the highest 
standards of integrity and impartiality is evident in everything she does. 
 
I firmly believe that Attorney Turnbull would bring a wealth of knowledge, 
experience, and passion to the bench. Her nomination would be a significant asset 
to the Superior Court, and the people of the Virgin Islands. I have no doubt that
