The
Government
is
mis-
guided
as
to
roadholders
I have
seven
carts
working on
my
allotment
on
the
center
line road,
and yet
up to this
time
I have
not
been
able
to
complete
the
repairs
necessary.
At present
lam get-
ting gravel from Enfield
Green Gut,
but
I am
told by the owner of the estate
if I
continue
to
take
gravel
there
for
any
length
of time or much
longer,
he would
have
to stop giving the gravel.
We have
no
gravel pits where
we
can gt gravel,
and
to put a
man
to break
stones
with a
hammer
would be
a great
expense,
The
only
way
we
would
be
able
to
obtain
gravel
to
mend
the
road
is
to
have
a
stone
crusher.
The road
is put to
hard
use today and
needs good materials,
and
the
automobiles
are
very destructive
to
the roads.

That’s where
the difficulty comes
in
- For
the
Municipality to take
care
of all
the
roads,
we feel that
it is
impossible
and
not
necessary
for
so
far
the
centerline
could
justly be placed
under the
care
of
the Public Works Department,
and if the
amount
collected from automobiles
is
in
excess
of the amount
required
to
main-
tain the road,
that would make
no differ-
eunce,
it would revert
to the Treasury.
