Be it enacted by the Legislature of the Virgin Islands:

SECTION 1.  Title 3 Virgin Islands Code, chapter 7, subchapter II, section 102, is 
2 
amended as follows:

(a) In subsection (a), paragraph (1), by striking “Governor” and inserting “Board of 
4 
Education” and by adding an “s” at the end of Island”; 
5 
(b) 
Subsection (b) is amended: 
6 
(1) 
In paragraph (1), by striking “Governor and work at the pleasure of the 
7 
Governor” and inserting “Board of Education”; and 
8 
(2) 
In paragraph (8), subparagraph (A), by striking “those” and inserting “that”; 
9 
and 
10 
(c) 
In subsection (c) by striking “Office of the Governor”.

This bill changes the appointment authority and reporting of the Executive Director of

the Bureau of School Construction Maintenance from the Governor of the Virgin Islands to the

Virgin Islands Board of Education.
