effective

contained
the
two following pro-
visos:

no person

ble
to hold office as

member
of
the
Colonial Councils of
the Virgin Islands

the United
States
nor
to hold
any

public office
umder the Government
of
said islands:
Provided
further
that
the income
tax
laws
now in force
in
the United States
of America
and those
which
may here-
after
be
enacted
shall
be
likewise
in
force
in
the
Virgin
Islands
of
the

United
States
except
that the proceeds
‘
of such
taxes
shall
be
paid
into
the
treasuries
of said ‘slands.”’
