VIDHS Announces Territory-Wide Closures Due to Inclement Weather 
For Immediate Release: September 18, 2025 
(U.S. Virgin Islands) — The Virgin Islands Department of Human Services (VIDHS) is announcing that, 
due to the ongoing inclement weather conditions, all DHS locations territory-wide will be closed today. 
 
Essential 24-hour operations, including the Youth Rehabilitation Center and the territory’s Homes for 
the Aged, will remain open. In addition, Meals on Wheels and Transportation services will continue to 
operate as scheduled. 
 
The Department is actively monitoring weather conditions and will provide updates to the community 
as necessary. 
 
“We appreciate the public’s understanding as we prioritize the safety of our clients, staff, and the 
community during this period of hazardous weather,” said VIDHS Commissioner Averil George.
