Learn why this is important To Whom It May Concern, | am writing to express my strong opposition to the proposed housing development Thatch Farm. As a resident of this community, | have serious concerns regarding the safety, feasibility, and transparency surrounding this project. The development is planned in a designated flood zone, which poses a significant risk to future residents and emergency responders. Building in such an area not only increases the likelihood of property loss and displacement due to flooding, but it also places an unnecessary burden on public resources. Flooding events are becoming more frequent and severe, and placing homes in a high-risk area contradicts both responsible planning and environmental stewardship. In addition, the proposed one-way access road which is critical to the development’s function does not currently exist. Relying on an unbuilt, one-way road as the sole point of entry and exit is not only unrealistic but extremely dangerous, particularly in emergency situations. Safe and reliable infrastructure must precede any housing development, not follow it as an afterthought. The road to the one way road has not been fixed my DPW since the storms of 2017. Can we please get this fixed? Furthermore, the final development plans differ significantly from those presented to the community. This lack of transparency is deeply troubling. Residents were led to believe one version of the project was under consideration, only to later learn that key elements had changed without proper public review or input. This undermines public trust and raises serious questions about oversight and accountability. Given the safety hazards, infrastructure issues, and lack of public transparency, | respectfully urge decision-makers to reject this development in its current form. | also request that this letter be entered into the public record and considered as part of the formal review process.
