THE ESTABLISHMENT OF A CONFERENCE GROUP (Board of Trustees Meeting, March 16, 1969) The President attempted to summarize the discussion in terms of his request for the establishment of a Conference Group as proposed in his memorandum of February 19, 1969. This memorandum weeWas accepted by the Board of Trustees with the following provisions. It was provided that there be four student members instead of two students in the Conference Group and that at least one of these students should be a woman, It was agreed that the Conference Group would not be concerned with individual personnel matters, but would turn its attention rather to policy questions aimed at the improvement of the College. The Board also reiterated its position that the President continue in his role as the only member of the College with direct responsibility to the Board, as provided by the By~Laws. With these agreements, members of the Board unanimously indicated their approval of this proposal, as stated above, and commended the President for moving ahead with it.
