Good day, | am Kamela Hughes



Thank you for the opportunity to give my testimony on Bill # 36-0084 a resolution

honoring and commending Alva Alphonse Swan known as Coach Tumba for his

dedication, contribution and mentorship to the sports of basketball.



Today | offer my full support for this great accomplishment for Coach Tumba as he

receives the Key to the Territory. Coach Tumba is not just a coach; he is a true mentor

who understands the importance of nurturing our young athletes both on and off the

court. He posses an incredible ability to inspire, motivate and push each player to reach

they full potential while instilling values of teamwork, discipline and respectin them.



His coaching style is inclusive and encouraging, making every child feel valued and

supported. | had the opportunity for him to coach my daughter, and said to myself as

soon as my son was to age that’s where he was going for basketball. My son joined the

Jah Youths Basket team which was the greatest thing | ever did. Under his guidance, my

children have not only grown as athletes but as individuals who understand the

importances of hard work, perseverance, and sportsmanship.



Tumba puts in that extra time to coach even if he is just coming off his busy work shift

tired, that don’t stop him from showing up on the court, he is dedicated to his self and to

our children. Tumba is a very respectful humble person that you can always approach

with any questions or concern, and everyone respects him in the community and is a

great role model for all ages. | am so honored to be here today to witness this big

milestone in his life because he deserves it.



Lastly, we got the news that he was retiring from coaching last year, we was all worried

because he had stop show up to several practices for the team but after 2 weeks he just

pops up one day, so! said to him | thought you retire mon, and Coach Tumba reply was

who going coach ayo if | don’t come out, we all laugh.
