Dear Senator Joseph:
It is with great pleasure that I submit this letter of support for the nomination of Attorney
Pedro K. Williams as a Superior Court Judge for the District of St. Thomas/St. John. I was first
introduced to Attorney Williams when I was an Assistant Attorney General with the Virgin Islands
Department of Justice. Over my legal career in the Virgin Islands, Attorney Williams and I have,
more often than not, been on opposite sides. Despite generally being adversaries, we developed a
mutual respect for each other professionally that developed into a genuine friendship. Although he
always zealously represented his clients and their interests, he was respectful, collegiate and, above
all, a gentleman in his dealings with me. That is a quality that has never been lost on me—a quality
that he will bring to the bench.
Based on my personal experience and professional interaction with Attorney Williams, I
am sure that he has the required temperament to be a fair and impartial jurist. He will be patient
yet firm as he works through the cases before him and will administer justice within the confines
of the law. I enthusiastically support his appointment to the Superior Court bench and know that
he will make the Virgin Islands proud if the Virgin Islands Legislature confirms him.
