Elmo

coal into the maw of a giant locomotive
developed
his physique
to amazing
proportions.
Among the important pictures

he played before
joining the Universal forces,
were
‘‘Burning Daylight’’, a picturization ~f Jack jLondon’s stirring novel,
‘‘Judith
of
Bethulia’’, ‘‘The Wonder Woman’’, ‘‘The Birth Os
A Nation’’, and
““Intolerance’’.
In
the last
two mammoth
productions
he played
the role of a mighty blacksmith.
It was
the creation of
the unique role of Tarzan,
the
huge
ape-man.
in
Universal’s
Picture,
‘‘Tarzan
of the Apes’’, the first screen
porirayal
of Edgar
Rice
Burrough’s
popular character,
that brought Lincoln to the ranks
of Fame.
He
then
was started
in a
Universalfserial,
‘‘Elmo the
Mighty, which attained
un-
usual
success.
He next was featured
in a second
serial,
‘‘Elmo the
Fearless’’,
which
is now coming.
Elmo Lincoln, the herculean
star
of ‘‘Elmo L'he Fearless’’
is reputed
to be the
most
perfect
specimen
of manhood
on the
screen.
He is withoat doubt
the '‘biggest’’
man
in pictures.

by the Native Brass
Band
in a public
concert
here
last
night
at-
tended

a large
gathering.
A lively
crowd
tramped
behind
the band
on
the
march
home.
His Excellency
Governor
Kitteile,
on
his first visit
to
this
island,
arrived
at
Frederiksted
yesterday
by
the
Vizen,
and will spend
some
days
here
it is
un-
derstood.
There
will be
held
a
meeting of the
Colonial
Council at
1
p.
m. today.
The
Order of the
Day
appertains
to matters
of general
public
interest.
The film to be
shown
at the Christian-
sted
Theatre
this evening
is ‘'The Mai-
riage Pit’’, a
complete
drama represent-
ed to be
very
entertaining.
It was
well
received
in Frederiksted
and
St. Ihomas
where
it
was
presented
to
full houses.

On Monday April 18th
1921.
the
'‘St.
Croix Avis’’ in its Editorial columus
paid
a high tribute
to the Native
Brass
Band
of Christiansted,
and
called
the
Council
members
attention
to the
needs
of
this
twelve
year
old
organization,
recenily
equipped
with a set of new
lastruments,
at an outlay of several
hundred
doliars,
and
the sacrifice
the bandmen
are
mak-
ing for the entertainment
of
the
public.
“The
Band
is
the
source
of delightful
entertainment
for the ladies
of the town,
who
weary
of
the
monotony,
so often,
when
there
is
no
music’’.
‘‘The public
trusts
to the Council
to make
good’’.
In
conclusion
we append
the
words
of
the
immortal Shakespeare
:
““Why music
was ordained?
Was it not to refresh
the mind
of
man
After his studies,
or his
usual
pain ?
Then give me leave
