Man Makes Way to St. Croix After Evading Florida Sheriff Department 
 
St. Croix, USVI - On April 7, 2023, at approximately 1:29 p.m., Shakir Jaahsine Noel was 
picked up on an outstanding warrant out of Hillsborough County, Florida. This warrant is in 
relation to Mr. Noel escaping from the custody of the Hillsborough County Sheriff 
department. Mr. Noel evaded the Hillsborough County Sheriff Department and made his way 
to St. Croix.  
 
The Criminal Investigation learned that 29-year-old Shakir Jaahsine Noel may be on St. 
Croix and detectives were able to contact him at a Hospital Street, Frederiksted residence 
where he was placed under arrest and charged as a fugitive from justice. He was transported 
to the Police Administrative Building in Mars Hill, Frederiksted where he was booked, and 
no bail was set on this matter until he is seen by a judge. He was then transported to the John 
Bell Correctional Facility pending his Advice of Rights Hearing set for Monday, April 10, 
2023.
