FACULTY RECRUITMENT AND DEVELOPMENT



(Board of Trustees Meeting, February 17-18, 1972)



A statement entitled A Review of the Faculty and Staff of the



College of the Virgin Islands had been circulated prior to the



meeting, and this document was the basis for a discussion...of the

faculty recruitment policies and practices of the College. This

discussion led the Board to reaffirm for a third time its statement



entitled Employment Policy of the Board of Trustees.



During this discussion, the President and the Provost and Dean

asked for the Board's endorsement of a doctoral program to help

make it financially possible for faculty members and for other very

promising Virgin Islanders to pursue a doctorate within their field



of competence. The Board of Trustees endorsed this program.
