heard
that the
graves,
in
which
sons
and
daughters
of old
Denmark
were
lying, (some tong
neglected,)
were
to
be pnt in decent
order,
by order
and
at
the
expense
of
the
Home
Govern-
ment.
I strolled through
the
cemetery
in
Christiansted
to
see
how
the
work
progressed,
and
was
agreeably surprisad
to observe
that gond progress
was baing
inade
in this
most thoughtful
task.
Old
and tunbled
down
tombs
are being either
repaired,
or the slabs
gathered
up
to be
removed
and
placed
against
the
Ceme-
tery
walls.
That portion
of
the
ceme-
tery
where
the
military were
buried,
I
undarstand
is
to
be
railed
around
and
a
monument
erected
to mark
the resting
spot
of
the
old soldiers.
This
is
as
it
should
be.

would
only
suggest
that
the
trees
growing among
the graves
be
cut
down and
roots
removed,
as
these
roots
are
continually
breiking
up
the
mason
work around
some
of the
araves.
It
should
be

to friends
and
relatives
of the

parted

that

resting

have
been
a deep
satisfaction,

many
parents,
to lay
their
boys
in
the
home

Many
were
buried
in
the
National
(Cemetery
at
Arlington.
No
one can
say U cle Sam forgot
or neglect-
ed
the boys that made
the supreme
sacri-
fice for
‘‘Old Glory’’, and it is
& sincere
satisfaction
to observe,
that '‘Qld Danne-
brog’’
is
doing all that
zan be
done,
or
the
decent
memory of those
who served
their
King
long loag
ago.

no
doubt that those
who
have
the matier
in
hand
will
make

good
ending

it, and
a short Comtnemoration
Lutheran
service,
would

suggest,
be
a

completion
to
the
good
work.

are
many

knew

LEADER’S BATON
An elecric leader’s
baton
was
seen
for
the
first
tim»
in
St.
Croix
on
Sunday
evening
at
the
coacert
of
the
Native
Brass
Band
on
the
Wharf.
The
baton
is
nickel
plated,
and
equipped
with
battery
and
buib.
The
light
can
be
turned
off and
on
as
the leader
desires,
and
the baton
weighs
no
more
than
