MEDIA ALERT: VIDHS Office of Head Start to Hold Press Conference August 22; Unveiling 
Ongoing Capital Projects, Back-to-school preparation 
 
U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS - The VI Department of Human Services (VIDHS), Office of Head Start will hold a Press 
Conference on Thursday, August 24, 2023. The event will take place at the Mars Hill, Head Start facility 
located in Frederiksted, St. Croix beginning at 2:00pm. The press conference will address ongoing 
Office of Head Start federally funded capital projects and demolition events currently underway in both 
districts, and also touch on the anticipation of the upcoming school start for the Head Start program 
territory-wide. The first day of school is scheduled for September 5, 2023. 
 
Members of the press are invited to attend this event to gain insight into the ongoing Head Start 
capital projects and learn about the positive impact these enhancements will have on the educational 
experiences of young children in the US Virgin Islands.
