Office of the Commissioner CONTACT: Jamal Nielsen, Media Relations Coordinator jamal.nielsen@dpnr.vi.gov Friday, September 26, 2025 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE BEACH ADVISORY The Department of Planning and Natural Resources (DPNR) informs the public that no water quality testing was conducted this past week under the Beach Water Quality Monitoring Program. This pause in testing was due to the recent passage of a Tropical Wave. As a result, the current water quality status at popular swimming beaches across the Territory is unknown. While DPNR does not expect any negative impacts from recent rainfall, the public is urged to follow these safety guidelines: Safety Recommendations: • Use caution when swimming or engaging in activities in coastal waters and beaches. • Avoid areas affected by stormwater runoff, such as guts, puddles, drainage basins, or any water that appears discolored or has an unpleasant odor. These areas may contain harmful bacteria and pollutants. • Parents should instruct children to stay away from stormwater-impacted beaches, manholes, and flooded areas.
