An Act amending title 23 Virgin Islands Code, chapter 5, section 470 to require individuals to 
obtain permission from the Commissioner of the Virgin Islands Police Department before 
purchasing firearm components that will be mailed or shipped to the Virgin Islands

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the Virgin Islands:

SECTION 1.  Title 23 Virgin Islands Code, chapter 5, section 470 subsection (b) is

amended:

(a) 
in the first sentence by inserting “with” after “Virgin Islands”; and by striking the 
4 
second sentence and inserting the following: “A person shall obtain permission from the 
5 
Commissioner before purchasing firearm components that will be shipped or mailed to the 
6 
Virgin Islands.  Upon arrival of the firearm components in the Virgin Islands, the person shall 
7 
declare the firearm components to the Commissioner.”

BILL SUMMARY

This bill amends title 23 Virgin Islands Code, chapter 5, section 470 and requires 
10 
individuals to obtain permission from the Commissioner of the Virgin Islands Police

Department before purchasing firearm components that will be mailed or shipped to the Virgin

Islands.
