LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION NO. 923

TO STUDY THE FEASIBILITY OF PROVIDING LEGAL TRATNING

AT THE COLLEGE



(Board of Trustees Meeting, March 4 and 5, 1978)



A resolution passed by the 12th Legislature of the Virgin

Islands concerned with the feasibility of providing legal training

at the College was considered by the members of the Board. The

resolution asked for a report within 90 days from the 15th day of

February 1978 with regard to: (1) "pre-law" course work which could

be offered at the College of the Virgin Islands to qualify students

to enter a college or university on the mainlands and (2) the feasi-

bility and costs of providing legal training at the College of the

Virgin Islands.



Discussion of this proposal followed with reservations being

expressed by Board members concerning the timeliness of the College

entering into professional legal training through the establishment

of a school of law. However, it was agreed that within the time

available an interim feasibility study would be made and a report

would be submitted by the College to the Legislature in response to



the request contained in this resolution.
