Title 3 Virgin Islands Code, chapter 27, section 719, subsection (b) is 2 amended in the following instances by: 3 (1) inserting “active” before “member”; 4 (2) striking “and annuitant by U.S. mail”; 5 (3) striking “the benefits or”; and 6 (4) adding a sentence at the end of the subsection to read as follows: “The member has 7 the option to select to receive the annual statement by U.S. mail or by electronic means.” 8 BILL SUMMARY 9 This bill amends 3 V.I.C. § 719(b), which directs the Government Retirement System to 10 send an annual statement of benefits or contributions by mail to employees and annuitants. 11 This bill would require the System to send each active member of the System a statement of 12 contributions by mail or by electronic means at the member’s election. 13 BR23-0405/February 21, 2023/YLT 14
