cases
under observation
making
a
total
of 7 pobable
cases
of plague
in
all
dis-
covered
sinee
Thursday
of last
week.
The
Health
authorities
have
under
consideration
compulsory
vaccination
as
one
means
of
checking
the
further
spread
of the disease

Vaccine in sufficient quantity
to
‘start
public vaccination
was
expected
so
ar-
rive last night
on the SS.
Helen
of
the
Bull Insular Line.
An organization
has
been
developed under
Dr.
Rodes
Yager
to start the vacecination
campaign
at once
in the event
the
authorities
determine
on ecompulusory
vaccination.
3r. Hill, of
the
Rgpckefeller
Founda-
tion, has been
put in charge
of the
work
of organizing
to
eradicate
rats
and
his
work is actively under
wvay.
It is
officially reported
that
the
first
rat showing plague infection
was
found
some
ten
days
before
the
first
human
case
of plague
was reported
to
the
au-
thorities.
The
first
infected
rat
was
found
in
Tetuan
St.,
near
where
the
first case
of plague
was reported.
