lic bishops

a meeting

foilowing siatement.

sense

unfortunately

to now only look on with helpless
anguish

dear

order,
life, property
and
national dignity
is being
hacked

operations.
Like the
great bulk of
the
nations,
we think the
best
and
wisest
course
for
Ireiandis to
accept
the treaty
and
make
the
most of
the
freedom,
undoubtedly
freedom
for
the first time in
seven
hundred

repudiate
the
idea
that
Catholics
and Sinn
Feiners
are
the insti-
gators of the trouble
in the
North,
London,
April 27th.-Acting
Command-
er Michae! Oneill, of the
third
Cork bri-
gade of the Irish
Republican
army,
was
shot
and
killed
near
Bandon,
County
Cork, lesterany.
He was
accompanying
other
officers
and
officials
on
duty
toa
farmhouse
some
distance
from
the town
and
was
fired
at
point
blank,
without
warning.
A member
of the farmers fam
ily was
arrested.

The
Irish irregu-
lar troops
at Mullingar,
at
eight o’clock
this
evening
vacated
the
public
build-
ings
they
bad
been
holding
and
left
Mullingar.
This movement
was

ultimatum
issued
by

regular
Irish
forces
who gave
the irregulars
five hours
notice
to leave
the town,
or surrender.
