supplies

is
no
good
reason
why a
considerable
portion
oif the future
trade
development
of
Santo
Domingo,
for in-
stance,
should
not
pass
through
the
es-
tablished
channels
of
this
island.
We
are
already
doing an increasing
volume
of
business
with most of the islands
but
che
liml' has
no where
near been reached.
The
further
growth
and development
of the island
will be
measured
by the
de-
velopruient
of
facilities
of
San
Juan
tor
handling ships. Because
of this faet
there
should
be
no selfishiness
on the part
ot the
island
in
making
possible
what
at fires
thought
may appear
to be merely
an
im-
provement
for
San
